Verizon to perform maintenance on Valley Street

Verizon Wireless, whose Emporia office is located on Valley Street, has scheduled underground utility work at the intersection of Valley Street and North Main Street. This will begin on the night of Wednesday, March 1 at 8 p.m. and will take place only during the night so as not to disrupt the flow of traffic during the day.

According to Emporia Public Works Superintendent Nick Temple, Verizon is laying down new fiber-optic cable underground. To do this, they will need access to a manhole on North Main Street. There will be a flagging operation in place to keep traffic flowing around the work site during nights when work is taking place.
