Connected By Cancer and Beyond
Cancer survivors, patients, caregivers and others in Southside Virginia who want to learn more about cancer and support care are invited to attend Connected by Cancer and Beyond on Saturday, October 4 from 8:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at Southside Virginia Community College, Estes Community Center, 316 North Main Street, Chase City, Virginia 23924. Halifax county native, Ratia Kirby, MS, nutritionist and culinary enthusiast will present the keynote address “Nutrition Guidelines for a Healthy Lifestyle” and cooking demonstration. In addition, local health care professionals from Emporia, South Hill and Southside Virginia will host breakout sessions on a variety of topics, including life after cancer treatment, living with the diagnosis of leukemia and lymphomas, coping with side effects, tips for family caregivers, pain management, nutrition and more. The event is free; light breakfast and lunch are provided, but space is limited to the first 100 participants.
