The ArtBank’s 29th annual series continues with Richmond Ballet II, the second company of Richmond Ballet, the State Ballet of Virginia, on Saturday, March 16, at 7 p.m. at Brunswick High School.

An adult ticket for the evening’s performance costs $12 in advance or $15 at the door. A student ticket costs $10. Tickets are available at the Brunswick County Library or by contacting The ArtBank at absouthsideva@live.com or by calling (434) 577-2833.

The evening’s diverse program of dance and music includes Ron Cunningham’s Summerset, Salvatore Aiello’s Senza Fretta, set to Nozipo’s Pieces of Africa, and excerpts from George Balanchine’s salute to New York City Who Cares?, performed to such Gershwin classics as “The Man I Love,” “Embraceable You,” and “I Got Rhythm.” 

Support for the evening’s performance comes from the Virginia Commission for the Arts & the National Endowment for the Arts, Brunswick County & Town of Lawrenceville Local Government Grants from the VCA, and sponsorship by Southside Virginia Community College, S.R. Jones Land & Timber, Peebles, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Performances to follow include the following: Quill Theatre on Friday, April 12 with a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Quill Theatre’s A Raven’s Heart, on Friday, April 26, 2019, and Terra Voce on Sunday, May 5. All performances take place at 7 p.m. in Lawrenceville, Virginia at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church or the Brunswick High School Auditorium.

The ArtBank also offers theater and musical programming to students and schools in the Brunswick County area, including theatrical performances by Virginia Repertory Theatre, and lecture/demonstrations by the Richmond Ballet and Terra Voce.

The ArtBank remains a totally volunteer 501 (c) (3) Organization. Programming is supported in part by Local Government Grants from Brunswick County and the Town of Lawrenceville through the Virginia Commission for the Arts, as well as several programs made possible through special funding by the United States Congress for the National Endowment for the Arts and the Virginia Commission for the Arts with additional support from the Virginia General Assembly.
