While most Greensville County students still have a little more than a month of summer vacation others will begin their 2019-20 school activities Thursday with the first official football practice.

Greensville is coming off its second consecutive winning season finishing 6-5 last year, 5-2 in the Tri-Rivers District for a third place finish. The Eagles will be seeking a regional playoff bid for a third straight season. The Eagles fell to King William in the first round of the 2A Region A playoffs last season.

The Eagles have little more than three weeks to prepare for their first scrimmage when they travel to Colonial Beach. The season kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30 when Weldon, N.C. takes the short trip north to the Eagle’s Nest to battle Greensville.
