The Edward W. Wyatt Boys basketball team hosted the Southside Middle School Championship Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Greensville County High School.

The championship game featured Wyatt Middle School hosting Nottoway Middle School. Wyatt entered the tournament as the number one seed, while capturing the Eastern Division title for the second straight year. Nottoway entered the tournament as the number two seeded team.

The Wyatt boys were able to jump out to an impressive lead against the Nottoway Middle boys’ team. But Nottoway being the competitive team it is, was able to scrap back and went into half time only being down by seven points

. In the start of the second half, the Wyatt Middle panthers came out with the same intensity and energy as they displayed in the first half. Wyatt was able to hold off Nottoway boys team and capture the win while bringing home its fourth consecutive tournament championship 35-22.
