Virginia Tech Sports Radio color analyst Mike Burnop speaks at the Golden Leaf Commons last summer.

The NCAA Football season is just around the corner and there are more than few Virginia Tech fans already excited about the fall campaign. Those that aren’t quite there yet probably will be when Virginia Tech Sports Radio color analyst Mike Burnop appears as guest speaker at the Emporia Hokie Club and Alumni Chapter’s annual dinner on Sunday, July 28 at Golden Leaf Commons.

Burnop will present a synopsis of the expectations for the Hokies for the upcoming season and discuss his history with Virginia Tech as a player in the early 1970s and was eventually inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame for his play as a tight end. He will also discuss his return as an analyst for the game day broadcasts in 1986.

The evening will also be about scholarships for area students enrolling as freshman at the Blacksburg school. The Emporia Hokie Club has distributed nearly $50,000 in scholarship money to students enrolling at Tech over the last two decades.

Last year’s Moses Archie Clements Memorial Scholarship recipients. were Brooklyn Mason, Britney Saleeby, Taylor Powell, Swenson, Savanna Jones, Preston Battle, and Dawson Coker.
