Supervisor Tony Conwell prepares for a meeting.

The Greensville County Water and Sewer Authority’s request to acquire new equipment and services was approved by the Greensville County Board of Supervisors during Monday’s regular meeting.

Gary Mitchell, the utility maintenance manager for Greensville County’s Water and Sewer Authority, said Greensville County Water and Sewer Authority plans to install an automated meter reading system.

“The authority would like to procure automated meter reading systems consisting of meters, meter reading equipment and supporting services by competitive negotiation,” Mitchell said.

Virginia code requires the government to adopt a resolution with its intent to procure competitive negotiations in the region when goods and nonprofessional services are procured by competitive negotiation rather than by competitive business. Competitive negotiation would give Greensville County Water and Sewer Authority the ability to evaluate proposals regarding the equipment and services to be procured.
