The Emporia-Greensville Chamber of Commerce’s 14th annual Barbecue Beef Festival is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 12. The event is always well attended.

Last year hundreds of people spent a few hours eating and socializing together at the old Train Depot at 400 Halifax Street, home of the Chamber.

“This year’s event promises to be the best ever. It’ll be a great afternoon. You can enjoy meeting new people, eat some great beef barbecue and enjoy live music. It is a chance to enjoy the company of like-minded people and spend some leisure time listening to a song on Halifax Street,” said Nancy Rose, executive director.

The event looks to combine good food, live music, and an open bar. The Beef Festival’s Social Hour is from 5-6:30 p.m. Food will be served from 5-7 p.m. on Sept. 12. Charcoal cooked barbecue beef, baked beans, rolls, and tea will be prepared by the Farmer’s Hunt Club.

Tickets are $20 until Aug. 31. Tickets are available may be purchased at the chamber office. Call (434) 634-9441 or email: ontrack@telpage.net. Tickets are also available at the Chamber of Commerce, 400 Halifax St.

Take outs are available. The menu for the festival includes barbecue beef, baked beans, slaw, rolls, iced tea, and alcoholic beverages.

Alcoholic beverages will be confined to the Chamber of Commerce building and the grassy area directly next to the Chamber.
