Greensville County Administrator Brenda Parson announced during a recent meeting that the Emporia City Council and the Greensville County Board of Supervisors have agreed to appropriate $10,000 each per budget year to fund the program.
Students graduating from Greensville County High School after 2014 qualify to benefit from the E.A.G.L.E.S. Scholarship Program (Emporia and Greensville Lead Everyone to Success). The scholarship will allow students enrolled in the academic program to attend SVCC free of tuition and fee charges for up to two consecutive semesters, or the scholarship will allow students who enroll and complete a Fast Forward Certification Program to earn a certificate at a cost substantially less that the total cost of a program.
Students must have received a High School diploma from Greensville County High School. To be considered for a scholarship, all applicants must complete all paperwork necessary for admissions and assistance. The student must attend SVCC within 12 months following high school graduation. Scholarship monies will be the last funds used after all state, federal, and private source are exhausted to complete the student’s financial aid and will vary according to other funding source that are available.
