Annette Lawson, left, of Ameristaff, speaks with job seeker Kimberly Hines during a 2015 job fair at the Golden Leaf Commons.

The Regional Job Fair at Golden Leaf Commons on Oct. 23 includes 142 job openings.

Companies attending include Greensville-Emporia Department of Social Services, Personal Touch Home Care Services, Virginia Army National Guard, Long & Foster and many more.

Sherry Pearson, the Regional Job Fair coordinator, said any business can participate in the event. The Regional Job Fair is open to the general public. Thirty-eight employers are attending, but 60 can be accommodated for.

The Job Assistance Center is sponsoring the event in conjunction with the Virginia Employment Commission and the Greensville-Emporia Department of Social Services. The Center works with businesses and clients looking for jobs.

“We hold the event to try and match job seekers with businesses. Businesses, or really anything, if they are in desperate need of hiring people,” Pearson said.

The Regional Job Fair is a great way to see the different local businesses all together.

“Instead of having to go from business to business to see who’s hiring or to apply, you can kind of hit everybody at one time,” Pearson said.

Businesses will be taking applications and doing interviews at the event. Businesses wanting to participate in the Regional Job Fair should reach out to Pearson at (804) 445-5710 or spearson@jacinc.net.

Golden Leaf Commons is located at 1300 Greensville County Circle, Emporia, Virginia 23847. The Regional Job Fair takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
