The Family YMCA of Emporia-Greensville waived its joining fee in October with a non-perishable food donation. Two hundred and thirty one items were collected and donated to the local Samaritan Kitchen on 405 North Main St. Emporia.

The Samaritan Kitchen serves lunch to an average of 60 people per day on Monday through Friday, except for holidays, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. If someone is in need of food, he/she can come during that time and complete an application for canned goods.
