Delegate Roslyn Tyler, who was re-elected on Nov. 5 to her eighth term to the Virginia House of Delegates, was appointed by Speaker Elect-Eileen Filler-Corn to serve as Chairperson of the state Education Committee in the Virginia General Assembly.
She is the first African American to chair this top committee in Virginia history.
Tyler has served as a member of the Education Committee for 14 years and was instrumental in increasing teachers’ salaries, increasing funding for K through 12 education and making college tuition more affordable for college students. Additionally, Tyler is also a ranking member on the House of Appropriations, Militia and Police and Public Safety committees.
Tyler is appreciative of her district’s constituents support and looks forward to returning to Richmond in January to continue addressing her constituents’ priorities of increasing the minimum wage, expanding broadband/high speed internet to more rural areas, job creation, affordable health care/prescription drugs and protecting hunting rights.
Should you need her assistance, she can be reached at her district office (434) 336-1710 or her Richmond office (804) 698-1075 in January. Tyler’s email address is email@example.com
