Eugene Porter owns the local gym Strong Temple Fitness and is known to a lot of the GCHS athletes as Uncle Junior.

He has worked with high School standouts Brianna Person and Jordan Peebles.  Person came back this summer and help him run a baseball and softball camp.  During Christmas break Peebles will be coming to tutor students in math.

Porter contacted GCHS Athletic Director Ruby Allen with plans to donate nine machines to the Eagles weight room. From treadmills, to a row machine, a preacher curl, elliptical and more...the weight room received some much needed upgrades.

Allen, along with help from her daughter Latoya Daniels and granddaughter Taylor Daniels, reupholstered all of the existing equipment that had fallen into disarray from years of use.

Porter told GCHS Principal LaMeka Harrison that he wanted the GCHS athletes and students to be great.  He then said to her “What do you need? You, tell me what you need.”

Porter is also offering discounts at his gym to all school staff from all of the Greensville System and students.

He is following the new motto for the GCPS schools #iBelieve and intends to make champions out of all the Eagles he can reach.
