The Greensville County basketball team will head south to North Carolina during the holiday break playing three games in three days in the Northampton County High School Holiday Basketball Classic in Gaston, N.C.

Last year the Eagles won the consolation trophy winning two of three games.

Greensville (5-2) is coming off a 71-60 Monday win in Emporia against Northampton County. The tournament tips off Wednesday with seven North Carolina schools and Greensville County filling the tournament field.

The Eagles will play in the second game of the tournament at 5 p.m. Wednesday against J.F. Webb (2-5). The winner will play in the tournament semifinals at 7 p.m. Thursday against the winner of the tournament’s first game between Southeast Halifax (0-3) and Kerr Vance Academy (11-0). The losers of the first two games will play at 3 p.m. Thursday in the consolation semifinals.

The bottom half of the tournament bracket features a 7 p.m. Wednesday contest between Southern Vance (7-2) and long-time Greensville nemesis Weldon (2-0).

The 9 p.m. Wednesday game features Northwest Halifax (0-7) against tournament host Northampton.
