ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — Roanoke Rapids Police arrested and charged four Emporia residents with possession of a stolen vehicle Monday following a chase that originated in Emporia and ended on Roanoke Ave. in Roanoke Rapids.
The people in the vehicle were identified as Tyvon Gilbert, 21, Shaniya Tennessee, 19, Zikey Harrison, 23, and David Smith, 21. Smith, the driver, is also facing a charge of no operators license.
“We were notified of a vehicle chase that originated in Emporia,” Interim Roanoke Rapids Police Chief Bobby Martin said. “It continued on I-95 South to exit 80 and through Gaston, crossed the bridge into Roanoke Rapids and ended in the Roanoke Ave. area by McDonalds.”
Roanoke Rapids Police officers Lt. Perry Parks, Corporal Ryan Cross and Det. Morgan Worrell assisted in the apprehension of the suspects, which were taken to Halifax County Detention Center on $50,000 bonds. The suspects faced a Wednesday court date in Halifax County.
Emporia Police Chief Ricky Pinksaw said the suspects are also facing theft of motor vehicle charges in Emporia.
