Buck Rodgers, right, prepares to putt as Pope Grizzard and Bobby Faison look on during the 2017 Beta Sigma Phi Golf Tournament at Emporia Country Club.

Beta Sigma Phi contributes financially each year to a number of community groups and civic organizations with a good chunk of the change coming from its annual golf tournament at the Emporia Country Club.

This year’s tournament is scheduled for noon on Friday Aug. 9 at the Emporia Country Club. It’s the 12th year the sorority will host the fundraising day of golf.

The tournament format brings a four-member team Captain’s Choice for 18 holes of golf. The shotgun start will have teams at each of the holes on the course. The tournament field is limited to 30 teams.

The registration fee is $60 per golfer, or $240 per team. The fee covers green and cart fees. Mulligans are available at $5 a pop. There will be cash prizes and two flights. The registration deadline to sign up for this year’s tournament is Friday.

Registration forms are available at the Emporia Country Club, 578 Country Club Rd. The deadline to get your registration forms in is Friday Aug. 4.
