Carnival fans begin checking out the scene.

Nancy Rose, the executive director of the Emporia-Greensville Chamber of Commerce, said the company in charge of the 57th Virginia Peanut Festival Carnival genuinely cares about the community. On Thursday customers had the opportunity to purchase a $20 wrist band each day and ride unlimited rides.

“If we could make this free we would, but we couldn’t do all this without having some costs occur,” Rose said.

She said people should attend the carnival because it is fun.

“It’s our own little Virginia State fair. It’s fun. It’s great family entertainment,” Rose said.

The 57th Virginia Peanut Festival Carnival rides were available for customers at 6 p.m. Thursday and the carnival opened every day following through Sunday.
