Emporia Mayor Mary Person, left, recognizes Tyler Rae for completing his Eagle Scout Project.

Tyler Rae, a Boy Scout with Purdy Troop 232, was recognized by Emporia Mayor Mary Person for his Scout project work at Veterans Memorial Park that led to Rae earning his Eagle Scout Award, the highest honor given to a Boy Scout.

Rae coordinated the renovation of the flag pole.

“The Eagle Scout Award is a distinction that will follow him throughout life and will be a beacon to others of the leadership qualities and commitment this young man has shown,” Person said.

Person said the Boy Scouts of America is a vital force in the development of youth through its many programs, which encourages the ability of its members to do things for themselves and especially for others.
