Congressman A. Donald McEachin, left, talks to the town hall audience in Chesapeake last week.

House member A. Donald McEachin, 4th District-D, will host a 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7 town hall at the Emporia City Council chambers at 201 S. Main St. The congressman will be joined by members of the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus and local healthcare experts.

"This month my office is embarking on a "For the People" constituent conversation tour and I am so excited to have the opportunity to meet constituents all around my district, and here in Emporia, to hear their concerns and questions," McEachin said. "I am often asked about healthcare - the growing costs, concerns about pre-exiting conditions, the spiraling costs of prescription drugs, the concerning maternal death rates for new moms are just some of the questions I hear every day.

"We are hosting a town hall in Emporia to discuss healthcare. This is YOUR opportunity to come with your questions and concerns and your suggestions. What can we do better? How do you think health care should be provided?

"I believe very strongly that every Virginian should have access to affordable quality health care no matter where they live. But, what do you think? What are your biggest worries? Come to the Emporia health care town hall I am co-hosting with members of the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus, the city of Emporia and local healthcare experts on August 7th at 6:30 pm. We will be at the City Council Chambers. Join us for an engaging dialogue on healthcare."

The town hall is tentatively scheduled to run from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
