The Independent Messenger is excited to announce the hiring of Victoria Remley as staff writer.

Remley began her new journey at the I-M Tuesday hitting the ground running by covering the regular meeting of the Emporia Rotary Club and attending her first Greensville County Board of Supervisors meeting.

“I’m excited to be here and I’m excited to get the opportunity to meet the citizens of the Emporia-Greensville community,” Remley said. “I’m looking forward to going to some of the upcoming community events, such as the Chamber of Commerce Barbecue Beef Festival and the Virginia Peanut Festival.”

Remley recently graduated from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. She was a member of the President’s List and Dean’s List at Youngstown State.

Remley worked at The Review Newspapers in Niles, Ohio and wrote for her college newspaper, The Jambar, as an Arts and Entertainment reporter.

“She will be a great fit with the Independent Messenger,” Mark Mathews, I-M editor said. “She brings a lot of enthusiasm and it’s contagious throughout the office. We are fortunate to have her here.”

Away from the office Remley loves cats, Bon Jovi and swing dance.
