The Independent-Messenger is pleased to announce the recent moving of Lyne Carey to the position of staff writer. For the past two months Carey was the office manager at the Independent-Messenger, but also helped in the editorial aspect of the publication.
“Lyne stepped right in and filled the position of office manager without a glitch in the process.” Mark Mathews, I-M editor said. “She took the initiative on her own to cover a news story when we were shorthanded and needed the help. She did a wonderful job. Lyne is very talented and is a great addition to our editorial staff. We are pleased to have her working with us here at the I-M.”
Carey comes to Greensville County from Delaware to return to her hometown roots. She was born in Halifax County, N.C.
“I have traveled a long way from home,” she said. “ I do thank God for this new journey and opportunity that he has so graciously blessed me with. While there is some nervousness I am also very excited and looking forward to getting to know Emporia-Greensville and becoming an active member of the community. Carey brings more than 13 years of knowledge and experience in leadership development training and coaching. Her hobbies include reading, writing, gardening and walking. Carey is very proud of her two adult children Eric, 25, and Morgan, 23.
“I feel you never leave someone behind, you take a part of them with you and leave a part of yourself behind,” Carey said.
As Carey embraces her new journey, be sure to give her a warm Emporia-Greensville welcome.
